Porter may be an evil magical overlord, but he’s actually a fairly good job to his minions. To ensure they stay alive he makes sure to handicap the heroes that frequent his lair. This ensures he has a much lower turnover rate than the average evil overlord and helps save him time hiring new minions.
Porter even makes sure to reward his minions for good work. It’s only fair that they get loot from defeated opponents too after all.
