This was fun, and a brief experiment with me hopefully to build a little tension. I feel I could have done better, but hey, you don't get better without screwing up. A billion times. Well, only 999,999,999 times to go!

The tension was there. You also tap into the everyday and the small which makes Scifi the most fun, so there's plenty of success in it. Really only the environment and character description where the only things needing a tune up, with short works like this what may help that out is using dialogue tags tuned to action description with reference to the body, don't have to use every dialogue, but every now and again will sensory/imagery things up a little for your audience.
I loved this one! Very much in the vein of 1950s-'60s 'hard' science fiction.
Understood that the Captain -- or any of the biological crew -- did not need to be a Fur to make the story work. Any big guy would do, but this is the nature of FA, so be it. I used the same logic writing Some Assembly Required, but I wanted to reuse an established character, and of course this is Fur Affinity, not Analog or Isaac Asimov's.
