At the end of StarFox 64, Fox could either have defeated a robotic double, or the real Andross which was the one that featured a Brain and eye-ball form. Freaked me out when I was little. The Venom II playout is likely the canonical way the events of StarFox 64 ended. But I can't help but find myself attracted to the idea that the StarFox team is convinced Andross is dead.
After that, the StarFox team would go on to face a second coming of Andross's floating head and hands, at the end of Adventures. Which implied Andross was able to disperse his consciousness and send it around, we'll come back to that.
Perhaps that floating space-head form, like Andross's "Bio-weapons" in SF64, is actually just something Andross created with cutting edge technology, and downloaded his consciousness into? Perhaps his original body is hidden in cryosleep somewhere in a bunker on Venom, or in space. Andross is probably the type of villain who would painstakingly plan ahead and create contingencies, and he has the tech talent for it too. Andross was even seen in a picture during the opening prologue, in the same room as General Pepper. which implied he was once humanoid like everyone else.
In this Fanon: Andross has kept his original body asleep while his consciousness returns to its shell; after many years of sleep, while the StarFox team had battled Andrew's Rebellion, the Aparoids, and then the Anglar Empire, perhaps Andross one day awakens. I like to imagine that he had studied Cerenian technology and reverse engineered it for his own purposes to develop the technology that gave him his telekinetic power seen in both 64 and SNES. The glove he is wearing and a few other things, I like to imagine give him telekinesis, and technokinesis; he can form machinery with his telekinetic power, assembling in with his technological genius, and perhaps piloting himself, interfacing with it directly.
