Yeah, and it was thought the reason Tobias heard it was him being a nothlit.
Then comes #23 and we learn he's Ax's brother.
Also, according to Ax, only Andalites were supposed to be able to hear that message, and Tobias hearing it is explained by the fact that he's half-Andalite.
I bet Cassie , like Tobias, is part Andalite. (This would also help explain why Aldrea went into her instead of Rachel in #34, by the way, since we know Andalites are a lot more comfortable abound each other.)

He's Ax's nephew, not brother, but yes he is part Andalite (which is explored in #33 as well, touched on in #43, and then completely forgotten).
And I dunno. I think Cassie being estreen and basically the Ellimist's "If all else fails, I have this ace in the hole" is a good enough reason.
I mean...I suppose it is technically possible, given Andalites have known about Earth since before 1976 (the earliest mention of Earth in the franchise, chronologically speaking), because the Andalites already had records on the planet.
But neither of Cassie's parents know about the Andalites until #49 and their reactions are not what I would call space-worthy. They're human. So any Andalite ancestor would have to be further back, which is difficult since the earliest they could possibly be is the late 1960s- Morphing was new in 1968.

Yeah, they don't really ever explain much. Cassie has the affinity for morphing, could hear Ax and in the one book where the timeline gets changed, she knows which they vaguely explain as her being 'grounded' in her time. Like :inconpetrock: mentioned the Ellimist made a comment about her, since it/he was aware of everyone's abilities/secrets when he "assembled" his pieces.
