For a long long time I would just do wah backgrounds, instead of white make it brown or gray or something neutral. After a while I started adding little details like a character on a chair or leaning on a tree and now I am TRYING to do full backgrounds. Its challenging to make myself sit still and colour whole backgrounds when all I really like to do is the characters. Anyhow, I really suggest washes first so you can see what they look like paired up with different tones and whatnot.

I hear NZ doesnt celebrate hollows eve, is that true? Depressing if it is. Such a fun holiday!

Haha, Thanks! I'll do a full chibi one. I went dyslexic on the first colouring and switched the orange and yellow and to Ari he liked that one better.
