Last year, when I'd visited my sister Rhonda in Wantagh, New York, I got to meet her three papillons, 'Chewie', 'Estrella', and 'Zipper' - originally part of a quartet of pets known as the "Wolf Pack". (The fourth dog was a Pomeranian - 'Odie' - who passed on first, a few years ago.)
In late 2017, 'Zipper' had to be put down - which was incredible for a dog who outlived his age expectancy (expiring at 20 years old). Well, this week (on September 11, 2018), a second papillon - namely, 'Estrella' - had to be put to sleep, after suffering a variety of ailments, at age 13. (I'd learned of this scenario from my niece Erica, who relayed the sad news via "Facebook".) Only 'Chewie' is the sole survivor of the "Wolf Pack".
Using a portion of a 'photo-op' of the trio I'd taken last year - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/25330118/ - I thought I'd post this memorial pic of 'Estrella', in her loving memory. In the meantime, you can go to my 'Scraps' section to see some of the other 'photo-ops' of the dogs my sister and her two daughters owned...

I should know. Back in the late 1960s, we had to put down our family's first dog 'Bambi' (a cocker spaniel), and later in the 1970s we had to do the same thing for 'Duchess' (a miniature schnauzer). It took a few weeks for all of us to get over our loss...
Nowadays, I usually go to a 'dog park' to be in the company of various canines owned by responsible people - mainly to compensate for the fact that I live in a south Florida condo community that doesn't allow pets altogether...
