Here is another picture of my hooves, from this angle you can better see the angle at which the shoes inside are at.

Hmm, very interesting design and would love to see the WIP. I been contemplating a stilt like design myself though so far it is more in my head than on paper or in any other form of construction. My main thing is wanting to realistic look but remain comfy. Are you able to stand normally in those or are you having to tip toe the whole time?
Oh, and in case I forgot, very nice looking and looking forward to more pics of suite. Been working on head design myself, trying to do so without the use of any foam in attempt to keep head less hot and more breathable plus to get a bit away from the "tooney" look as I like some realism in my suite design =).

I have to tip-toe with them on although the angle isint too bad. I can even lean back some without much trouble, if I go back too far then I have to drop onto my heals to stop from falling backwards. Although its an easy task getting back onto the hooves after I steady myself again.
I did my best to stay away from the foam as well. I did have to lay down a 1/4 inch layer of foam to give the fur a realistic pattern to lay on so the structure of the head couldent been seen underneath.

Yeah, I got 3/8 inch batting material on hand just in case the fur itself can not cover the seams of the plastic canvas I used to scuplt the head. Looks like the batting material may be more breathable than foam. But so far it looks like I may be able to get away without it with using the plastic canvas. So far, the head looks very horsey without even the fur on it, kinda like a bald horse head.
May have to get pics and post it once I am happy with it before I cover it with fur.

Batting material, so thats what thats stuff is called. I bought some of that to use elsewhere on the head construction and ended up using it to break up the hard lines under the fur of the hooves.
I would love to see how you did your head, been having a few issues with my head, mostly the eyes.

I used a half of a plastic Christmas ball for the eyes, though have not attempted to color them yet. You can by them at most craft stores for making your one x-mas balls. I will have to get some pics loaded sometime. I was trying to avoid the mesh like eyes and one reason of trying to keep the head breathable was so I could do that. Leaving the nostrils and ears kind of open for some air flow if needed.
