I am Garthal leader of the Dryara, and this is my daughter Sartaris, the Dryara have lived since generations in the great forest of origin, were the great tree lies, to protect it from the outside and itself.
We the Dryara were allies with the celestial forces, they would give us protection from the outside in exchange of a small portion of the various amber that flows from the heart of the tree from were my kind are born. This alliance was broken after the council elected lord Lazarus as their leader they demanded to bring more of their forces to us and greater payments of amber, this new force was not intended to protect but instead for occupation, as soon as this was proposed I had to cut ties with the exterior world.
My species is eternal, time can't take us and even the most grievous wounds can be healed with amber, we live to protect the great tree from which one of us is born each ten years, unfortunately at the same time the fruits of the tree mature and become Cryara, beasts with an appetite for amber which had to be slain or driven out of our lands. When Sartaris was born a gargantuan Cryara appeared and stormed into the heart chamber before she could be taken out, I heard her voice crying for help and couldn't hold myself back. The tree does not allow the male of our species to go near the heart and as soon as I entered the chamber I felt a hostile energies but I had to push onwards, the beast was trying to break the ember cocoon where my daughter was dormant with the corpses of the ones that were in the chamber. I sliced the beasts throat after a harsh battle against the monster and the tree itself and after the creature bleed out I toke Sartanis outside were the battle had ended.
The others claimed that the great Cryara was an omen and my daughter should have died there or banished from the forest. I saw it as a warning, times will be difficult for us but this new life is hope for a brighter future, only if we can stay strong together.
Cryara is now short of becoming twenty, she has always been a curious one, exploring every crevice of the forest and even its surroundings, when she turned ten she was ready to fight and protect the heart, taking a spear which she called the Hearts Thorn, she managed to slay some of the beasts, earning the respect of those who doubt her before.
Now we await for the next one of our kind to be born, but from the top of the tree we see dark clouds in the horizon and I fear the next treat will come from the outside.

There is something similar, the Curse of Savagery, that transforms the subject into a more primal version of what the subject is. Results may vary from subject to subject as the source of this curse of it is ancien magic mixed with demon influence, some may keep their personality while others get lost in the transformation, sometimes the physical changes are barely noticable other are as radical as to change the anatomy completely and sometimes the transformation is permanent while for others only happens if certain requirements are met. Those things depend if the curse was spread by other cursed or by casting it new.
