Events don't always play out the same in ever single instance of existence. Most of the time these divergences are miniscule in comparison, hardly affecting the course of the greater narrative. Sometimes though, things go horribly wrong.
In one such instance: Phalanx doesn't meet Midnight, he doesn't get dragged away from his post, he doesn't have spoopy adventures with the dark mare, getting married to her and eventually making the decision to shape a 'softer' form for herself.
It all began with Phalanx being thrust into the position of guard captain as the highest ranking member of the guard that hadn't been removed by the kingdom's usurper. With the royalty dead and a new ruler in place, there was little point in 'vengeance' as the kingdom was now on the precipice of collapse. He made the decision to accept his 'offered' post to ensure that the citizens were not harmed. As a show of gratitude for his decision, the usurper altered his figure to be much more pleasing to their eyes. The usurper's vanity 'gifted' her with a semi-female form, a fully functional pair of wings, a great increase in the mare's size, and immortality to ensure she was always there as the usurper's eye-candy.
Phalanx in this all-gone-wrong-verse isn't happy, but she's also not depressed. She's more concerned with keeping the people of the kingdom safe from both outside threats, internal struggles and the usurper's sometimes really stupid ideas.
Things do eventually work out, as the initials on the towel allude to her last name being Charmer here. A name that would only come from the dark mare, Midnight, herself.
I absolutely love this one.
Phalanx's anthro canon is a god damn mess and pretty much pure fetish. But! EZTP took what I told them about it and did some fantastic work here. Phalanx's anthro canon makes her absolutely massive. Everything in the room is pretty typical in size, Phalanx is being forced to lay her legs almost flat to the ground to sit on the bench itself while her head nearly reaches the top off the lockers behind her.
To say little of the weight of her armor.
