It's fine :p I still haven't played any dark souls but I have kind of played some souls-like games. (Salt and Sanctuary?)

It's only a Souls game if it's From Software (name of the developer)

Bloodborne is a good introduction honestly.

I guess I'll have to check it out eventually.

If you're into that sort of thing, I'm gonna be straight with you and say that the game can be hard but it's easy at the same time, first time through I found it relatively comfortable, have a walkthrough on stand by so you don't get lost because games like that don't tell you shit.

Ah yes
Maze-like paths, deadly traps and hard-hitting enemies, items, spells, and even classes that don't give you a whole lot of information on their functionality, it can get very tricky if you're just thrown in there.

Bloodborne isn't like that, enemies can hit hard but not all the time, the areas can be pretty open but certain paths can be pretty enclosed, not all the time though and there are zero spells, there's magic but no spell casting and there aren't a whole lot of weapons in the game but to make up for that weapons have different modes, like the big sword you see up there is the transformed version and the other version is a smaller sword that swings faster and uses less stamina but the range and damage aren't the same.

If you want to get into Bloodborne it is the PERFECT introduction to Souls styled games but do not go into it blind and don't worry about the extra areas in the game, my first playthrough I missed 4 whole areas but they are not mandatory, it's a very open ended game and it leaves a lot for you to figure out and discover, like the story. Souls games are very light on story telling and it's all ambiguous stiff for you to interpret.

Damn the weapons sound awesome. Wait, you even skipped a few areas? that's pretty cool. I'm a bit of a secret sniffer though, so chances are I won't be done until I finish exploring, unless some dang strong enemies deter me. Then I'll be running away XD

Absolutely, you don't need to fight everything and some enemies you just shouldn't fight, like early on in the game you'll find a big dude with an axe, he's a noob trap and he drops nothing special for beating him, he's just a self imposed challenge.

Hot dang! That's a good lesson to teach in a souls game. I've even heard of peeps who've run souls games by running past the enemies. That's a funny thought to think about.

Yeah because ultimately after you beat them once and got to the boss there is no reason for fighting them again unless you want to grind for souls/items.
