I little info from the individual who brought about this monstrosity... Mythos Military Solutions makes its first home the planet Genoa. Genoa has quite the rough political environment. Its elected president died back in the days of the 4th Succession War, just about every business on Genoa has had their eyes on the seat ever since. Albin Padriag, CEO of MMS was no different in that regard, even if he was late coming to the game in the 3050s. The difference was in his methods. He was willing to just about go to war with every other business on Genoa.
Genoa itself is just a large chunk of planet sized rock. Originally, it was a nice planet before (long before MMS got there) but it was pulled out of its orbit by a passing Meteor. Now everyone lives in cities under the surface. Not only that, various rebels of the past and pirates of the present with mining on top of it all have the planet so riddled with tunnels, it's easy to get lost (and just as easy to hide things). On the other hand, this presents some rough, tight terrain.
To provide themselves a cheap machine for both defensive tasks and raids in what could be near unnavigable, tight, and even vertical tunnels, Mythos produced the Goblin Ultra-Light Mech. While its normal loadout (1x ER Medium Laser, 1x Rocket Launcher 10) is light, it reawakened a concept long put to rest back in the days of the Star League, that of Hand-Held weapons. One of the first versions of this was a dual machinegun system (as seen above). Other handheld goodies include 3x RL10 pods, SRM2 launchers, and later on Dual Magshots.

But if I put the RL 10 in the right arm, it couldn't use the RL10 while using the hand-held weapon! :P
Basically, of the 15 tons that makes up this mech, only 1.5 tons went into weapons, despite holding some 3 tons of weaponry and ammo for it. It does this by making use of the Hand Held weapons rules. Of course, while using a handheld weapon, you can't use arm or torso mounted weapons, so the simplest solution to enable the mech to use all its weapons is to put the weapons mounted to the mech in the head or legs. Hence why the ER Medium Laser is in the head and the RL10 is in the right leg.
On the bright side, the Hand-Held weapons system is the cheap mans added firepower and omni system on a mech this light. It can hold any hand-held weapon system so long as the system doesn't exceed the machine's carry rate of 1.5ts The weapon shown above is the cheapest and easiest option, using 2x Machine Guns and a half ton MG ammo. Other options include the RL10 pods (RL10 x3), which give some quick but short term added firepower; SRM2 pods with half ton SRM ammo, to provide a more long term power boost; or as you were asking for, 2x Magshot Gauss and a half ton ammo for it.
TL;DR - I used the hand-held weapons rules to give it more firepower, make a poor man's 'omni' system, and keep the explosive ammo on the outside of the machine, thus not endangering the internals or the machine.

Hehe, I know the handheld weapon rules very well, dude.
I was just thinking how this little guy would look like as a Chimera, not as a Battlemech. Personally I like the idea of ultra-light 'Mechs, and I wish they'd declare them official level 2 standard. ^^
Good job on the design btw. I love the version with the ER laser.
