A portrait of Ezo, the clan Alpha flanked by his guards, posing holding a signaling fan while residing in the clan's castle overlooking a bay.
Ezo, the Daimyo or Lord, was initially unsure of the foreign visitors to his province. They dressed in unusual clothes, used strange tools, and smelled unwashed. They spoke a strange language and were undisciplined. Despite the local residents pressuring the Daimyo to cast them out, Ezo was still interested to learn more of their strange culture. One of the otters from the foreign envoy was a skilled painter and offered to create a portrait of the Daimyo. The Wolf Lord could not say no after seeing examples of the otter’s work.
The Daimyo was dressed in his traditional armor, his clan crest embroidered on the shoulder. The armor looked well worn with signs of damage and previous repairs covered by torn silk. Through a translator, Ezo remminiced to the foreign artists about a recent campaign in a neighboring province culminating with a resounding victory. Even while conversing, Ezo would still hold a very determined and focused expression for the painter.
From the portrait sessions the Daimyo and his advisors became more comfortable with the unusual visitors. The portrait was completed and gifted to Ezo as a sign of friendship. The Daimyo was very impressed with the final work. He wished his new friends well and opened the province’s harbor to the visitors to return at anytime.
