You know, I never really thought about what game they're playing.

I doubt it's Punch-Out, as the NES version doesn't have multi-player (only the Wii version does). Maybe they're playing Super Dodge Ball. Or maybe Contra.

I figured someone would eventually make that comparison. But their color scheme is in no way related to Naylor's characters. I adore black cats, but I thought being plain black would be a little dull. (Plus it's been done plenty of times before.) They were originally supposed to have brown hair, but it didn't look quite right, and I found that white looked a lot better. When designing them in my mind (I'm no artist), I made a point not to make them too similar to Naylor's characters. They're also supposed to have white on the tips of their ears, but Rinzy missed that detail. (No big deal, Rinzy.)

Sorry, I don't mean to rant. I just don't want my characters to be seen as a copy or anything. :) It took me several months after their first appearance (in a line art commission) to settle on a color scheme.

Oh, not at all! I didn't even consider it ranting, but I understand what you mean. I wasn't in any way trying to say your idea was copied off from somewhere else. It was cute and just happened to _remind me of Better Days_, that is all. I know first hand what a pain it can be to find a color scheme down that you really feel satisfied with. ^v^ ♥
