Sad to say that this week has been a lil slower on the art front, I have ideas brewing, but getting through the first week of the broken bone blues takes a bit, lol, we'll see if I can make up more content for next week
Although certainly I've been thinking of this character, happier even more so now I've been told she reappears today i-
Backtrack I guess, IDW took over the Sonic the Hedgehog comics after Archie lost the license and made a new comic universe based on the Sonic Forces timeline, so, resistance after Eggman/Robotnik took over the world =o Sonic Forces fell short on a lot, but one of the big things was the variety of custom characters you could make and IDW seems to be following that by making a bunch of their own new characters
Tangle the Lemur was already a smash hit, but the surprise creation was Whisper from issue 8, a much unknown character 'the guardian angel' who would appear and disappear to take out Eggman's robots from afar and often safe resistance groups with her intervention, then would vanish just as quickly without a trace
Whisper is... pretty much an enigma once Sonic and Silver ended up with the chance to meet her in person =o She's incredibly, incredibly reserved and timid, even to the point of Fluttershy-style whispering with her low voice
She hates being in crowds or interacting with others, to the point of physical discomfort, only able to handle maybe one or two people at a time, but she seems to have an affinity for the wisps that aided the freedom fighters and also power her gun, changing it into different forms for with a wide variety of active uses
Sonic wonders what the heck Eggman did to her, and he's not the only one with questions, possible connections to Shadow or Infinite even loom, but while she isn't quick to answer questions, she has softened to try and work with others in Sonic's camp
I'm not sure what the heck it was that drew me to her design first, the strange mask, the garb, another canine - she's not going to replace Lupe in anyone's hearts soon, but my word, she is endearing some =o - her demeanor or her strange background...
I have a feeling that there's going to be some bumps revealed soon for Whisper, but, I look forward to seeing how she grows as a character in the Sonic roster and whether or not she finds fans among the Sonic fanbase =o

=o The mask and how she presents herself to others is a nice complicated bit all by itself
She certainly has the natural eyemask pattern in her fur going and there's layers and layers of masks going on here, she's hiding a lot to others including herself, I'd say you're spot on with your thinking how she likely considers herself =o
