A guide to Sailfin Dragons



Scientific Name: Crista Draconis

Temperament: Curious/Suspicious

Habitat: Jungle Region/Tropical Forest

Height: 4.5ft - 6ft

Length: 13ft - 18ft

Diet: Insects, Small Vertebrates, Red Meat

Physiology: Small stature, slim lanky dragons. Large crest on head most notable feature, which gives the 'Sailfin' dragon its name. Intersex, with little to no difference between males and females. Males and dominant females usually have large spurs on the back legs. They posses the rare ability to switch gender throughout life to balance their population.

Coloration: Sailfins exhibit bright scales from blue, to green, and red, or even yellow and orange. They are covered nose to tail in striped markings.

Defense: Sailfin while small, pack powerful venom produced from their salivary glands. This venom is a nuerotoxin from their specific diet of glow worms. (which also has... other side effects)

Nature: Saiflins live in groups called 'tribes'. These can vary in size from 15-30 Sailfins. They are pack hunters and vocal communicators.

Breeding: Sailfin dragons choose mates during the fall season with elaborate mating dances. When a pair is made they mate for life. Both partners care for the young and take shifts with nest duty and hunting.

Nests/Dens: Sailfin build their nests and homes within caves or hollowed out trees. They fill these with leaf litter, animal fur or anything they find.
