This is a sort of invented species thing. The idea was to take a real species and sort of extrapolate something that it could be in the future, or if things were a little bit different.

So this is a honey badger, only with a slightly more upright stance. They are possibly headed in that direction, because honey badgers do, in fact, run on their hind legs when moving at speed. It's because their claws are so long they get in the way, so they hold them up. It looks hilarious! Do some you tube searches, you'll probably see what I mean.
