Akridos are a species of giant meat eating insects that build sprawling maze like nests that they take their victims back to.

Any attempt to kill them with an organised armed assault always ends in failure due to the fact that they will just swarm over their enemies from all directions and even dig new tunnels to the sides, above and below any invading force. The only reason why Galen has managed to survive is due to the fact that only one person isn't enough to provoke the whole nest into defending itself. He still has to deal with insane numbers all by himself however.

It isn't the damage to his body that is a problem.

Galen is a civibelos, the warrior caste, so he will heal in no time with little need for magical assistance.

The real damage is to his uniform. He managed to ruin the guard captain uniform and it will take days to fix.
