Again  xehta13 did this, but this time... I had nothing to do with seeing this thing created. Beyond telling him "sure if you wanna do it go ahead." This was something he wanted to do himself.

This is... hilariously also an anniversary for when Nine showed up in Liena's Way. 2 years after I started the series I started doing work on Mecha revealing his past to Liena, which started with Nine's arrival. Lunis fell in love with the vixen instantly. *chuckle* As such I decided to have the two of them hook up... though admittedly I didn't really give Lunis much (IE ANY) focus in the story. It was about Liena and Mecha, and busty sexy ladies... eh.

But yeah, so he wanted to celebrate the 6th year anniversary of Nine becoming an official character on the roster as it were. I said sure... then I realized that meant I had to write something for this. But THEN I realized I could use this to give them the depth and screen time they couldn't get in LW. So hey... win win.

But yeah, honestly I think they make a cute couple, Nine would definitely enjoy what a loyal little fido he acts like. She's a much more domineering lady. So hey, enjoy everyone. Two lovely couples on this day.

Nine Tailed Side Tale

Oh wow, so finally someone is going to be paying attention to us? You know everybody was just so caught up in Liena and Mecha’s lives, we hardly were really noticed of given real attention.

“At least you played a part in that whole Mecha revealing his past guff… hell I felt like less than a side character. And you know we did hang out, you’d THINK I’d be more important. Guess you need to be a hot chick to be of any significance.”

Might have helped if you had something interesting to who you were as well. You were just a normal guy. Still, I guess you have a point. Oh well, at least now is a chance for me to really shine… and I guess you’ll get some importance because you’re riding on my tails.

“… I’ll skip the joke for now.”

So, alright I guess start with the… start.

Unlike Mecha… I actually do know my life before I got my mechanical augmentations. It was… well… god damn it. Look there’s plenty of stories of the young idealistic girl thinking she’s going to go places… only for life to throw her to the ground hard. I was put into a desperate situation… I did what I had to do just to live for another day. I endured…

“I don’t think details are all that important Nine.”

…Right. So, the lump some total of this all is… when someone came up to me and offered me safety from all the cruelty, my basic needs met, and the power to ensure I’d never be an object to anyone else ever again…

Well the world and its people didn’t give a single damn about me… why was I gonna care if a few of them had to die for MY wellbeing. My job was to be an infiltrator, its why I’m not as obviously cybernetic as Mecha and several others are. I can fight of course… I did join on the more… overt missions with high body counts on occasion. But mainly I got to be the one who used and led others on… wrapping them around my finger. I was very good at my job.

I made good friends during this whole chapter of my life… its how I met Mecha. Heh, he was the only one who didn’t fall for my charms, and it wasn’t for lack of trying. I mean… come on, how can you not want to meet a challenge like that.

“…moving on.”

Oh hush… it was just a challenge. He’s such a pansy and reserved guy… that ain’t what I want. I mean you’re a pansy too, but you at least are willing to test waters. Liena literally is the only person on the planet who can force Mecha to do that. Way to much work for me… besides… he’s not as cute. Heh…

Oh, but getting sidetracked. So, friends made, met Mecha. Things were going pretty good. I had a home, family, I never was hungry or cold or scared. But… Mecha started to get doubts about everything… wondering if what we were doing was right. He wasn’t like the rest of us. He wasn’t already a twisted monster, nor had he really experienced how terrible the world could be. So… he left.

But the boss wasn’t going to just let him, so it became a fight… him versus everyone else. We tried to convince him to come back… but he was set on killing Praxis. He didn’t want to fight us though, much less kill us… and several of us were the same… but more than that we started thinking…

“…Nine…”

Look no matter how awful our lives were… it didn’t justify what we were doing! I jumped ship and joined him in that damn crusade… other joined. We… we had to kill some friends who didn’t think Mecha was right… but eventually we won. And then what happened? The bastard just vanished! After everything we went through… we lost track of him… with how everything had ended… I kinda just figured he’d…

Well that’s later. After it was all over… we kinda went out to try and live our lives… some of us found new places… settled down. Myself, I just traveled around the world, I was used to it before so… not that tough. Used my skills and talents to keep myself somewhat comfortable. All in all, wasn’t that bad. And then one day… I stop by a little place for a bite to eat when I hear these people at the table next to me. And what I hear is the description that is just so familiar.

“Liena has a knack for being in the right place at the right time I’ve noticed.”

No kidding. As it turned out Mecha was alive and well and had actually managed to find a place to settle down. He even found himself a girlfriend. Oh god the look on their faces when I told them he was a virgin was great. Ah, but it was nice seeing the hound again after so long. I was still mad he just left… but I was too relieved he was okay and actually… happy to give him shit. I told the others, cause I’m NOT a total asshat and broke all contact with everyone, what I had found. I think the twins were certain I was just screwing with them.

“But finding Mecha also led to you finding another doggy didn’t it.”

Yeah, Nikita was pretty cool. Can’t believe he was actually in a love triangle.

“…forgot about her.”

Walked right into that Fido. Anyway, since I had just managed to find him again, I wasn’t inclined to just up and leave. So, I bunked up with a friend of Liena’s, Sarina. Snake lady. Pretty tough. Lots of fun. But that leads me to meeting Lunis.

“Well Nine kinda already covered it. I’m pretty normal. Well I do design video games.”

He’s too blame for loot boxes and season passes, oh and preorders.

“Those are not our decisions! Besides we aren’t a triple A! …ahem… So yeah, that’s my job. Part of a small company… still I think we do good work. But I was a friend of Liena… with all that entails. I met Mecha when… well its Liena… you can guess.”

A wonderful way for a couple of bros to bond.

“Well I bumped into him after that, turns out Mecha’s actually kinda creative when he wants to be. Plus, he has a lot of world experience… he’s great for design ideas since he can give me things from obscure places to use. He’s also pretty brutally honest about my designs… though he has a hate boner for chainmail bikinis.”

They’re impractical.

“Ugh, not you too. Well anyway, while you might not think it we were pals. So of course, I was curious when I heard about this old friend of his that apparently showed up and all the girls were talking about. Though I was a bit put off by the name… I mean Nine… really? A nine tailed fox named Nine.”

It was a nickname, don’t blame me, blame Nat.

“You still use it.”

Well okay yes… it’s… preferable to Nina.

“Which is why I don’t think its stupid anymore. But yeah, eventually managed to meet her… and how could I not be instantly taken… look at this beauty. It was a group get together, so I didn’t have much time to spend getting to know her… but…”

Well like I said… Mecha isn’t as cute. The way he was obviously already smitten with me… heh, it was adorable. Now originally, I was doing the whole Liena thing… I figured we’d have some fun but move on… but he wanted to spend time together and actually go out on dates.

“Well like I said… how could I not be smitten?”

Well it was cute… and I’m like Mecha… I like cute things. So, I gave dating a shot… while he does have some of Mecha’s… questionable taste in cinema…

“Hey, kaiju films are good!”

…VERY questionable tastes. We did have a lot in common. None of my friends were big fans of wrestling… so it was actually really great having someone to actually talk to about it in person. He’s got great taste in music as well. Plus… I like a bit of horn dog in my guys… and I certainly can appreciate the visual appeal of a chainmail bikini.

“EXACTLY!”

Still impractical. But yeah… and he’s cute. Look I know some might think that doesn’t mean much but… seriously even if I’m not killing people left and right doesn’t mean I have a good opinion of others. I assume everyone can and will be an asshole… that Lunis is just so genuinely nice and sweet to me is… look this isn’t what I expect or want from my friends. I don’t want them to tell me how beautiful I look or how awesome and cool I am… but this… it’s just so cute…

Because things looked like they were getting serious though… I had to tell him. It wasn’t like Mecha told everyone the truth… Lunis was still in the dark. I wasn’t going to go into any relationship without addressing the issue.

“I had already gathered that Mecha’s past wasn’t… good. That he’d done some bad shit… it was just how he’d talk about certain things you know. So, I wasn’t really caught that off guard when she told me what she’d done… it was the stuff before that really hit. I honestly never knew how much I could want to murder someone until that day… there’s anger then there’s… that…

I couldn’t blame her for what she did. Choice this choice that…say it all you want. It really isn’t a choice if your options are suffer and die versus living. I told her it’d be okay… and then asked if we’d be a steady thing.

So yeah… we hooked up. No where near as much fanfare as with Liena and Mecha… I mean he was more shocking to see it happen with after all. Me and Lunis moved in together… moved to a new place, where Mecha proposed and found out he was gonna be a daddy… honestly that hound stole all the thunder.

“It was a few months before I popped the question myself. Actually… I had been testing the waters after the move in… so after the wedding was when I popped the question. Didn’t make a spectacle out of it like he did. Heh.”

Proposing at a wedding… I’m certain that’s considered tacky… but I accepted all the same. Like I said… I feel special when I’m with him… and that… means a lot to me. After everything, it’s nice to feel like I’m not just some stupid girl who the city swallowed whole.

“And I got a pretty vixen… who knows the value of sexy design and doesn’t go all ‘rawr this isn’t practical, she’d be torn to shreds if she wore this’ blah blah blah.”

Heh. It isn’t as spectacular as their relationship… but I don’t want it to be. I want something more… calm. This here… this now… its my second chance proper. To live the life I dreamed of as a little girl. Which includes a kid. I always wanted to be a mom… since I actually was going to have a husband figured… well hell why not go full monty.

“That caught me a bit of guard… but… well we were getting married. And I mean… people can and have had children a lot sooner in a relationship. Plus… I did wonder what being a dad would be like… turns out it’s a lot of work if you try to do it right.”

Yeah… but… good things in life… the things that matter… they’re always gonna take and be worth extra effort.

“Wow, that’s really poetic.”

Gah, I’m being sentimental like him now… I need to punch a rock… hmmm, or I can break a bed. Come along Fido, mistress has got plans that take place away from these prying eyes.
