Camazotz, the Gatekeeper, opening the path between this world and the next.
My attempt at a fantasy version of the Mayan god Camazotz. I didn’t want to do a 1:1 representation–I don’t think it’s my place, and there are proper historical depictions of him already–but rather more of my take on him as he’d fit into Genesis, which is already a mishmash of a thousand mythologies. I’ve always had a great fondness for death gods; this picture went through quite a process, and I learned a lot working on it even if a lot of things changed by the end.
