Never found them in the states I've lived in.
There is a delighfully spindly spider here that i slocally called a 'daddy long legs' (which mostly eats other spiders) - that seems to dominate. I went to Pensylvania once and was delighted to find harvestment stalking about the place - a critter i'd read about but never ever found!
