If I were a smarter bunny (Coyote? Never know what to call myself when I make these...) I would have taken more time. I stayed up pretty late building the sound effects, and then stayed up later recutting the dialogue to fit inside 12 minutes. But you know, when I really get into a project, I just can't let it go until it's done!
I know I say this everytime but this was cool! The voices really did ncarry the characters. The Doberman really did sound German and disciplined. I like Alan Murphy, and I'm not surprised Qantas can fly, being a kangaroo he can probably outhop BHop.
dub-c did a better job at that voice than I did, that's for sure. His realy sounded like a big, angry, muscular guy.
As usual, this was great fun to listen to

Yeah, sorry about that, Big-Z! After you left, Dub-C got his mike working and... well, he really sounded just right for that character. But you know what? Now that I know I can record you over Skype and that you've got a great mic for recording, I'll be sure to put you into a future podcast!
Thanks man, I had no idea that mic was so good. It's more thgan 10 years old, would you beleive that?! It's the mic I pinched from the old Windows 98 Machine that my dad likes to keep and maintain and he got that mic when he UPGRADED it to Windows 95! My god, the days when Dial-up was still standard and I used 3 1/2 inch floppies for moving schoolwork. Brrr, it sends chills down your spine *shivers*
It certainly gets the job done! While a cheap desktop microphone may not have the richness of a studio mic, for what we're making, it's perfect. Since I put the vocals on top of music and sound effects and then compress the whole thing down into a 118k MP3, any added detail you'd get from a high-quality mic would be lost anyway.
I understand that Alex Vance's performance in this episode was recording on an iPhone! And I think it worked out great! That's one thing I'm just loving about making these podcasts-- it's so great to see how easy technology has made it for everyone to record their voices and deliver the files to me. Ten years ago, this would have been much more expensive and difficult to do!

Back in 1999, I had a job down in Southern California recording voice overs, and every now and then I would have to use a box called a Telos Zephyr to record voice over ISDN lines. I made a couple of recordings of voice actors all the way in Australia using that box. It never sounded that good, though-- the box had to squeeze the audio down a 64kbps pipe and while it worked, I could always hear the artifacts and noise.
The quality of the recordings I'm getting over Skype is WAY better than I ever got using the Zephyr. On the other hand, the Zephyr had nearly no delay at all. As we saw, that isn't the case with Skype!

Hey folks,
As I listen to a TON of podcasts that use Skype, there definitely have to be ways to lower the delay. I'm going to do some digging. I happen to know of one podcast that has one guy in Canada, one guy in the US, and one get in Mexico. And there is VERY little delay on their live stream.
It could be that ustream because it's a chat client/video/audio feed is taking up a lot more bandwidth, I suppose. I will experiment and see if I can find anything out!

Hmm, intersting J Ott, but I know the connection between Malaysia-California can't be helped, our "broadband" internet's infamous for being slow and narrow bandwidth. It is probably because the ustream's taking up so much bandwidth. It could help the skype for the furs Stateside, in Canada and Europe though, if you can find anything
Thanks, J-Ott! That'd be awesome! Yeah, I was thinking the same thing-- I'm sure UStream eats up most of my 768kbps upstream.
I think I'm able to turn off the video portion of my UStream when I want to. Maybe I'll do that when I'm recording a Skype call-- not much to watch then anyway!
Would love to hear what you find out, though! I'm still reading up on how other people do this-- I hope to do better with every podcast I make!

Somehow, I get the feeling V6 would be very pleased to know you find John Stoat scary.
I think you're talking about Alan Murphy? Unfortunately, he's supposed to be from Australia. His voice would have to have an appropriate accent for someone from Queensland. I listened over your take you gave for the previous podcast, and I think I've got an idea on how to use your voice! I'll send you a PM!

Man, this is an AWESOME podcast! All the fan participation made this thing really great! ^^
I love how when you're screaming INTERN! and COFFEE! it sounds like you're turning around and shouting it towards him! It would have been funnier if you hear some intern in the distant background going "Sorry..." ^^
Was the Shane Rufus arrest hatched up between you and
german-shepherd or was it a complete surprise for him? I think it would be funny if you just come up with the injuries, arrests and other things that are normally out of the team's control anyways, that way it's totally a surprise, just like in real life! :)
I wonder what the Thrust are going to do about their frontline... I'm not sure a frontline of Doral, Howell, and Teronura is going to be strong enough to get the Thrust to the Finals again. They lost a lot when Katz left, so they've got a little bit of catching up to do to get back to where they were last year. Then again, they've got B-Hop, so anything is possible. :)
And of course I'm loving hearing about all the players! I really am looking forward to hearing what happens with Jeff Random and the Howlers... are we going to be able to negotiate trades on Draft Day? It would sweet if the Howlers were throwing trade propositions around to whoever drafts Random! Would make for quite the exciting Draft. ^^
Love love LOVE Desmond Macon's voice! Wow,
jerotter did such a WONDERFUL job with him! Hope
baddwill doesn't mind him being turned into a beach bum sounding guy. ;)
The sound effects really came out great! I particularly love the effects in game during the Samuel Roberts part! It sounded really authentic! You really know how to make the clips believable! ^^
Overall just really entertaining, and I'm very glad to have been a part of it! Can't wait for the next one! ^^

Heh! Yeah, I really thought about adding a voice in the background during that. I decided not to since I would have had to use my own voice, and I wasn't sure how to perform that-- and I had spent so much time trying to get my side of the conversation with John Stoat right. But-- I may come back to that.
Oh, no, I totally surprised him with that! Yeah, I was a little unsure about it. At one point I thought I really should ask permission before I drop a bomb like that, but then I came to the same conclusion you did and figured I should pull rank and just make it happen. Hopefully I can find ways that'll make the FBA more exciting and fun rather than just annoying my GMs!!
Like... JTigerclaw needs microsurgery! Out for whole season! Mwahahaha!!! Just kidding.
T. Matt's seriously worried about that. You're right-- the scoring for the Thrust was mostly from Katz and B-Hop. Those were the two that could shoot from anywhere on the floor. Lyska's only effective from the arc, since he can't penetrate. (Go ahead! GO THERE! I DARE YOU!!!) The Thrust need an inside scoring machine. This is when they really wish Lance Cheval hadn't been such a jerk.
Oh, absolutely! You know the NBA does it! The FBA does, too! Jeff Random is interesting in that he's not only a top 8 guard, but physically and by species he's a perfect fit with the Howlers team strategy. You know if the Howlers had first pick, they'd take The Factor over JT or 2K. And with Rufus' court trial early in the season, the Howlers need support in that spot. They might be willing to give up someone valuable to get him.
Yeah, totally!
jerotter was awesome! Great voice, great performance-- and good gear, too! A voice director's trifecta. I'll certainly be using the otter again.
I can't wait, either! I'm going to try to do another one this weekend. I need to get these podcasts out ASAP so that we can do the draft this month. I think if I get #2 done this weekend and #3 done the following, we can hold the draft on the weekend of October 24-25th-- which would be JUST in time for the start of the NBA season! What do you think?

I can't imagine him not liking what you did, J-Ott. Your performance was classic.
And does that mean you want to try voicing other characters as well?
jtigerclaw has played four different characters now, which is more than me. I think I've only done three different characters. You would be joining a very exclusive club!

Waiting for
mrinitialman's performance and then hearing it had to have been one of the greatest moments in UStream history. That delivery took it to 11.
