This cat in particular, which I believe is male, had a fang removed several years ago. Tough looking ol' cat, especially now that its 12 years old. That's getting up in years. At least their lives are good now, after having such a rough start. It really looked like there was one sentry on guard while the others slept, but I know I'm humanizing too much. These cats are often all sleeping together without a care in the world.
Born in 2006, meet the four cougar residents of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Motega, Yuma, Tocho, and Kaya. They were orphaned as cubs in Wyoming when their mother was killed by a poacher. Rescued by a good Samaritan as I recall, they were brought to the zoo in Colorado and have called it home ever since.
As with the previous post, I think I might have gone a little overboard enhancing this photo. ... I have to rely on CS2 and don't have Lightroom, so my options are limited. It gets frustrating since the same process gives vastly different results for each photo. I might try 3-4 different methods before I find one that looks good for a particular image, then work to refine it further. Yet here it just seems ... a bit excessive. Ah well. I'll keep at it.
Yes, more photos are still in the works. So watch for future posts.

The issue is CS2 is terrible when you're going to bring out certain aspects of what's already a jpeg. If you can start in Lightroom, you can do a lot more without it look overdone. CS4-5 are even vastly superior in jpeg rendering. We do what we can with what we have though.
Thanks for the compliment. It's not easy to get feedback on photography outside of places specifically geared toward it, and I tend not to run in those circles a whole lot. FA is definitely more art-centric.

Despite what was used, this is still a very eye catching image.
Yes. This is a site geared mainly toward drawn art. Still, photography is an art. People just think that they're all photographers because they have a camera phone. I know alot more work goes into it than that.

I have to give much of the credit to the camera. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. MFT is a format that makes it far more difficult to capture images this detailed and crisp than say a standard DSLR. Full-frame, you can be a goober and still get good photos all the time. You get what you pay for though. Those start out in the thousands just for a body.
Photography is something that takes a lot of time, investment, and effort. Then one has to go places to get the photos. The post work isn't always easy either. Though with smartphones ever advancing, the gap between what anyone can get on their Galaxy or iPhone and what a photographer can get on a professional camera is ever shrinking.
The area where I think camera makers could really serve to improve is processing. In-camera processing is still subpar when compared to the average smartphone. Intuitiveness is another factor. Those areas are lagging while the technology advances.
I thank you for your kind words. It's nice to hear something nice from time to time, especially with all the work that goes into photography.
