Like the fabric patterns. Have you done any color works work watercolors before applying colored pencil? Seen some others do that for translucent effects.

I've thought about doing that but I would need to get a different paper for it!

Look for some cold press smooth watercolor paper if you want to use makers on the picture as well, the rougher textures would lead to tiny white spotting as the nib would not make contact in the deep recesses. Now with colored pencils and pastels it's all about the texture and how it grabs the pigments. If you got a art store that sells water color paper cut from roll stock - see if you can buy the scraps to test out the texture before committing to a full sheet. I no longer have an art store that does that left around where I live.
