My kids were skaters. Later in life, (19) my daughter was a Diamond Girl for the Panthers. She and another girl would come out in between the periods, look pretty, and do a few jumps. The team had a terrible game one night and actually blamed their loss it on the girls digging up the ice with their toe picks.

I don't think he's much worse than the Philly Phanatic or any other weird-ass sports mascot.

He looks like a deranged Muppet that came to life and escaped the workshop. If I was designing a team mascot I would ask professional puppeteers for help with the design.

Gods of Light and Darkness this was not a nightmare. WTF do the Flyers need a freaking mascot for? The Phillies have that goofy Phanatic, the Eagles have Swoop (out of all the sports mascot he makes the most sense), the 76ers had/has Cosmo and Hip-Hop but the Flyers were free of the madness that necessitated a mascot for the team until now apparently. Now granted since the Flyers are pretty much the only team here in Philly I actually give a crap about I am prejudiced to put it mildly, but are slumping so much we need to pander to the morons and have some goofy thing running around for silly entertainment. Now don't get me wrong I like Phlex the Phantoms' mascot, he looks cool. Not this thing. I had a better idea for a fursuit than this monstrosity, an orange and black G.Shep with the flyers logo on his chest like a superhero emblem.

Years ago, the San Francisco Giants BRIEFLY had a crab for a mascot. That didn't last long. It was subject to all sorts of, ahem, critiques from the fans.

But think of a team named the Maryland Crabs.

"In football news, the Crabs were all over the Cowboys yesterday . . . "

Not like I give a shit, but what in the hell are they thinking?
