Some of you will be familiar with dragoncave, and I'm one of the artists for that site. One of the species I concepted was the Skywing. Skywings are asiantic dragons with wings rather than legs, and start life as piscean nymphs which gradually grow. Every half century, a skywing develops new fin buds.
The first two fin sets mature into two wingsets by the age of 200, and the next stages of development slow gradually. The highest number of wingsets on a single skywing is, so far, 27, a record held by a Lung of unknown age and elusive nature.
This particular young male has just reached puberty, as evidenced by the small sexual display fin on his head. He's curling his earfins in embarassment by his unsually hooked snout, caused by a buildup of silver in the lips. It generally passes by the time the tendrils mature into full whiskers and accumulate all the facial silver deposits, and when it does, his delicate, dished face will be all the rage with the ladies!
