He got his tail backed over by a trailer at a boat launch when he was in his twenties. It did not hurt "that bad" at the time so he ignored it and discovered a few WHY IS IT SO GODDAMN COLD days later that he had a fasciitis infection, which resulted in the large divot you see today. He is not very sensitive about it; his tail "was not really that impressive to start with."
