Its not even a personal preference thing, for those who find cilantro to taste "soapy". Turns out its genetic! "These people have a variation in a group of olfactory-receptor genes that allows them to strongly perceive the soapy-flavored aldehydes in cilantro leaves. " Google things like "why does cilantro taste bad to me" or "cilantro soap" and you'll find a ton of articles about it!
I think a great many people here (though thankfully not all) don't understand the genetic issue.
To most people, cilantro tastes citrus-y.
To a certain minority, thanks to genetics, it tastes like soap.
So rather than revile something, just don't eat it because if that and let other people enjoy it because they can.
