I use a Line 6 Toneport :)
It's like an external USB soundcard with one or more 1/4" inputs you can connect your instrument to and play directly onto your PC. It comes with software that you use to model amps and cabs and effects etc, and after a lot of tweaking you can get some pretty cool tones that don't sound too digital.

It looks like they started to release the same hardware under a new name and doubled the price
There's one on Ebay at the moment though at $40 - You might not be able to find it under that name anywhere else now. They discontinued that model and released a new one that seems identical for $100 :/
