I did this one a few days ago, it's the first picture I scanned with my new A3 scanner (A big thank you goes to Tabalon for that scanner! ).
Well, what's more to say?
The original is for sale, just note me if you're interested.
(Media: black ink and watercolors; size: 24x24cm)

Hmm... original for sale... must resist... must pay rent..... :D
Well, maybe it's still available next month? ;) Anyways, paying rent is way more important than buying a picture, so just resist. :)

What kind of light source is he holding?
Very nice!
I'm so making this my wallpaper!
mmm.. now if only I knew how to make a widescreen version of this..hehe
Well ... how about just adding more green to the left and the right side and blend it in with the actual picture or something like that?
saysay.. any chance you can turn it into high resolution suitable for desktops? ^.^
AHHHH~~!
this is adorable~!!!
i love your technique!!! it reminds me of the sumi-e ink paintings from Japan~
-luff luff luff- awesome job!!
you're very welcome. ^__^
and its all ink and watercolor correct?
The control is just amazing on your black strokes and the transition from dark to light... like how the space around the fox looks like it is actually illumitated by the lantern is just fantastic!
did you use any inking with pens for this piece? or was it just ink and brush?
[if you dont mind me asking about your technique. ^^; I'm an illustration major and find other techniques really interesting, appologies if im being nosy.]
Thanks again for all your praise. :)
I did the inking itself with a bamboo brush to make the outlines a bit rough and not looking all clean and stuff. (But that's something you could probably see better on the original painting.) I usually use ink pens if I want to have clean outlines like on some other line arts (the mink line art, for example). But when it comes to children's books illustrations, I just love it a little more rough and lively. :)
And you're not noisy at all, I'm always glad to help young artists. So please feel free to ask me anything you like. :)
Oooh kk I see~~~ coolies.
And this was so very helpful no lie! and if you dont mind... i might try out that technique with the bamboo brush and stuff... thouh a bamboo brush... is that like a regular looking brush [like sumi-e type] or is it more like the pice of bamboo that has been made into a pen thingy. [I hope that makes sense]
aah i'm glad, i find different techniques interesting and stuff and like to know how someone achieves such. ^__^
ah! for sure! if i have questions i'll come and ask~! ^___^
thank you for answering my questions~~!
It looks more like a brush, like those: http://axner.com/axner/tools/images.....-brushes-f.jpg
I'm glad to help and good luck with your art! :)
oki doki~~
and i have some brushes like this so i'll definately try it out when i get some free time ^___^
again thank you very much Pan-san~!
And you're very welcome. ;)
yeah not a problem. ^___^
it might be a while till i actually get to making a piece, but I'll definately send a link over so you can see. ^___^
actually i made something last night. not with a bamboo brush, but a fine watercolor brush... i'll scan it and post it up real quick like [its similar to what you've done with tribal designs and animals, but i dont want to color it for fear of ruining it!!]
as soon as i have it posted i'll link ya! ^___^
Oh yes I know, but I'd rather leave this piece black and white. ^__^ and believe me i have ruined pieces by coloring them. ^^;;;;
I might make a similar piece and color that one just to see how it turns out. -nods- that way if it ends up being a disaster i still have the one i like yaknow.
Also i have some photos of the piece, but my flash made everything blue ^^; [weird flash is weird] i'll post that up and link ya. ^__^v
I know that problem about taking pictures of a finished piece ... a scan would be better, really. ;)
Good luck with your next one then.
hai, if i get a chance tomorrow i'll scan it.
and actually... i dont have a problem with colors, I'm actually quite fond of them but sometimes a piece just looks better in black and white yaknow. ^__^
thank you! ^___^
