it's normally a bad idea to free the monster covered in restraints at the bottom of some arcane laboratory, but hey she's a monster too so I guess it works out.
As the device is destroyed & restraints are shreded, the chaos energy that was trapped in them leaks out rapidly. While the energy restores stheno's power, some of the excess also spreads to lyra as well altering her physiology as well.
Just for some lore related thoughts, Something like this could be possible, though unlikely as there isn't much I imagine that would be able to contain & preserve that much of his energy over such a long time period. If the people who trapped him are rather amoral, they might be mass storing it to use as a weapon or for experimentation hence the massive amount of it available
