Captain Kassy and First Mate Ankou set their sights on pair of tasty looking treasure ships...
Macro Piracy
By: IndigoRho
The weather was as clear as it could ever be, which had gifted Ankou a perfect view of the two massive treasure ships in the distance. The purple mouse's imagination ran wild as he thought of all the riches that must be aboard. Countless coins, golden statues, precious gems galore! A fraction of their holds could make a pirate comfortable for life. Usually such a fleet would have far more ships and be a hassle to deal with, but two would be a breeze.
Ankou put away his spyglass and ran through the white fluff of his perch. His paw grabbed a rope and he boldly leapt into the air, swinging down past the large horns of the macro ram that was both boyfriend and “ship”.
Captain Kassy's ear twitched as he felt the tiny mouse scurrying atop him. The ram towered above the sea, waves lapping at the base of his modest belly. Instead of a flag the unconventional pirate crew of two had opted to simply paint a giant skull and crossbones right on Kassy's gut. Considering that was the final resting place of every ship and crew they encountered, Kassy felt it was rather fitting.
At last Ankou reached Kassy's ear, still hanging by the rope. “Cap'n Kassy, I've sighted two supersized snacks up ahead, both stuffed with treasure!”
“Diet's been really gold-heavy lately,” Kassy mumbled as he scratched his belly. There was a faint clattering of metal and crunching of timbers from within, the previous night's dinner. “Oh well, guess I shouldn't have eaten so many whales, they kind of all disappeared.”
“Just think of how much cattle you could buy with the gold we'll score!” Ankou said. The mouse was rather prone to encouraging his boyfriend's gluttony.
“I didn't say I wasn't going to eat them I just—oh never mind.” Kassy resisted the urge to shake his head, knowing it could swing the mouse around. “Prepare for battle First Mate Ankou!”
“Aye aye, Cap'n!”
Ankou quickly scurried back up to the top of Kassy's head as the ram began to move. Even at his size wading through the water took effort, though at least it wasn't so deep he had to swim. Then again he often merely floated on his back then, his belly easily mistaken for an island. Kassy always got a kick out of hearing rumors of the wandering “ghost isle” that ensued.
Unsurprisingly, the two ships had also noticed the macro heading their way. Kassy could see tiny crew members running all over the decks, rows of gun ports opening to reveal cannons. Against a regular pirate ship such weapons may have inspired fear, but the S.S. Kassy scoffed at the sight. The battle was bound to be comically one-sided.
Clouds of smoke appeared on the side of the nearest ship and a series of booms accompanied the first salvo. Kassy made no effort to dodge or block the shots. The macro's round belly had been their target, and every cannonball that struck simply bounced right off with barely enough force to make him jiggle. It'd felt no worse than a tickle.
Between the ships two more salvos were fired off, each proving as useless as the last. Now it was Kassy's turn. The ram grabbed the forward mast of the nearest ship and broke it off like a twig, sails whipping and rigging snapping apart. Tiny sailors on deck scrambled for cover as debris rained down upon them. As Kassy lifted the broken mast he realized someone had been unlucky enough to get stuck in the crow's nest. He grinned wide at the terrified sailor before shaking him right into his open mouth and sending him plummeting into his cavernous stomach. At least he'd be greeted by countless riches in the abyss.
Kassy chomped down on the mast and tore off another, ignoring the various attempts by the crew to “fight” him. One-by-one he ate every mast on both ships—six in all—ensuring neither would be able to manage an escape. The ram gave his belly a happy pat, then let out a thunderous uorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp directly at the captive ships. The gale-force belch knocked over sailors and rattled timbers—even nudged one ship in the water a bit. The real feast was about to begin.
Sailors cowered as Kassy's hands dove into the water and slid beneath the ship, grabbing it tight. The macro lifted it as if it were a toy, raising it high into the air until it was at eye level. Sea water was dripping from the hull, an incomprehensible chorus of shouts and yelling coming from the doomed crew. Kassy simply licked his lips and bit the bow of the ship right off.
Splintered wood, exposed supplies, and a few sailors rained down onto the ocean below as Kassy swallowed down the first bite. Treasure had also started pouring out, but Kassy noticed quickly enough to tilt the ship and reduce his losses. He pressed the ship to his lips and gulped the loose contents like water. Coins, barrels, and crew all dumped into his stomach. Another large bite demolished most of the ship, his belly bulging slightly as he crammed it down. A third swallow caused the stern to vanish from sight, an entire treasure ship now stewing in the ram's gut.
Kassy let out a sloppy burp, bits of wood and treasure launching out. His gaze soon turned to the second ship. As expected it had been unable to flee with its masts consumed, and wasn't even bothering to retaliate much at all. There were a couple uncoordinated cannon shots and a poorly aimed harpoon, but nothing of worth. Still hungry, the ram grabbed the ship and raised it above his head, letting the sailors left on deck tumble into his maw.
A wolf managed a desperate leap from the ship, landing atop Kassy's head and cushioned by the wool. His freedom was short lived, as Ankou soon discovered him, menacing the wolf with his cutlass.
Meanwhile, massive bites and swallows were devastating the once-proud treasure ship, reducing it to a filling meal. Kassy sighed contently as he swallowed the last crumb, hands lowering to pat his stuffed belly. The skull and crossbones were even more prominent now, still recognizable over the lumps of ship and treasure. There were already ominous glrrrrrrrks and glrgggggles echoing from his stomach, which was well on its way to becoming a churning sea.
Up above Ankou was slowly guiding his captive down Kassy's muzzle, towards the tip of his nose. Kassy could just barely see the pair if he crossed his eyes. From past experience he knew exactly what his boyfriend intended, though. He slowly stuck out his tongue.
The wolf reached the edge of Kassy's nose, and Ankou chuckled. “Arrrr! Time for you to walk the plank!”
The wolf nervously looked down below, spotting the massive tongue waiting to catch him like a net. It wasn't the least bit comforting.
Unfortunately Ankou wasn't about to give him a choice. The mouse pirate jabbed his cutlass in the wolf's direction, causing him to tumble backwards. The wolf yelped and flailed before landing on the wet tongue, which quickly shot back into Kassy's mouth. A loud gulp sent the wolf into oblivion.
Stuffed and happy, Kassy belched again before carefully crouching down so he could float on his back in the water. As he lowered Ankou sprung off his nose. The mouse did a spin in mid air, landing in a cannonball position on Kassy's doughy belly. Ankou strolled the short distance to a patch of wool and made himself comfortable, the gurgles below lulling him to sleep. The triumphant pirates had earned a well deserved snooze...
