Chapter 36: Talking
It had been a few days since Lauretta had visited the Lounge. Nicholas still was acting like his normal self but hadn’t fully gotten over it. He did take a look at the scroll however but didn’t make too much on what would be done. After all, nothing different had been noticed as of late. There hadn’t been any attacks. Even so those who worked at the Lounge and those in the city still had a sense of uneasy. But then some information was told that drove this out of some of the worker’s minds. “You mind repeating that?” Nicholas asked Heritage.
“I’m saying that Lauretta was asking if there is a time you could meet with her,” the being replied. “She left a message.”
“Then tell her it’ll happen when hell freezes over,” the male werewolf growled.
“Look I don’t know what happened but… do you think maybe your anger needs to go?”
“You don’t know her like I do,” Nicholas said simply with anger. “Besides, it’s been years, how do we know what she’s been up to?”
“What if the meeting happens here were eyes you trust can keep an eye on that vixen?”
The long-haired werewolf went silent and thought it over. “Maybe… Oh I don’t know!”
“You can wait a week,” Heritage told him. “She said she would give you that.”
Nicholas ended up talking to it about Jayjay later that night before they went to bed. “I don’t know if it’s a good idea,” he told the female werewolf.
“Just do it once,” she said to her boyfriend. “If it doesn’t go well then you won’t have to do it again.”
“Fine,” the male sighed and his girlfriend gave him a reassuring hug.
Nicholas was ready for the meeting with his old ex a couple of days later. It would happen at the eatery. The male werewolf was on edge, even if he knew that Jayjay was keeping a close watch close by and a couple of others. Then he sensed the vixen coming in and heading his way. The male turned and there was Lauretta. “Hello love,” she said with a sweet smile.
“Let’s just get this over with,” he growled. “And you can knock it off with the love shit, got it?”
The vixen and werewolf took a seat at a table with her looking to him with interest. He on the other had the same snarl and his arms crossed. “This really is a nice place you have,” the female stated. “Must be nice after talking about having a dream of having one like this.”
“Thanks I guess,” he grunted.
“So tell me… what has happened since we broke it off?”
Nicholas shrugged but slowly began to open up. The guy was still on guard with her but Lauretta learned some things. He in turned learned that she had been trying to do some good in the world. But the male still wasn’t buying it. “I heard you fended off two vampires not long ago as well,” the vixen said.
Before Nicholas could even ask how she knew about that, Heritage came in to the eatery and looked distraught. “Nicholas, you’re needed!” the being stated. “There’s a problem in the city!”
“Couldn’t have come at a perfect time!” the male stated and rose from the table. “See Lauretta out.” The male took off and Jayjay who was nearby was quick to follow. The vixen gathered her things and left with good grace. She was exiting just in time to see the two werewolves heading off.
“Well now…” she stated and smiled, her eyes flashing. “Seems things have gotten interesting…”
