“Namaste Ganapataye.”
Another commission done by Luxarts at luxarts.tumblr.com/
The girls from Ghoul School erect a pumpkin idol of the elephant headed deity known as Ganesh. A peculiar piece to everyone I’m sure. Probably inclined to find this cultural clash very confusing. But much like the original Universal monster mash up and how it would eventually spawn Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School itself, hopefully one can see this positively as a very American phenomenon.
To explain, Ganesha and Ganapati are both composite of two words: gana meaning group, particularly companions of deity Shiva, while esha and pati mean leader. Thus he is the leader of Shiva’s host.
Ganas are not a specific type of entity, like a leprechaun or nymph. Instead they can possess any nature whether that be angelic, demonic, cthonic, ghost, or fairy. As such any creature that is a devotee of Shiva can be a gana and is thus also beholden to Ganesha. To include these ghoulish girls.
