Finally got a chance to do some practice, I used some of Tsaiwolf's art as reference material for this.

I tried slightly different things for each one of these:

Top left: I had the reference image beside it and just went ahead trying to draw something similar, I didn't draw any "frame" components etc to help aid me, just refering to the reference when I didn't know what something looked like.

Top right: I roughly traced the outline of the reference and then used that to draw the line art. I think this actually worked out the worst, plus it's really not very flexible as you end up learning to copy, not *how* to draw something.

Bottom: For this one I had the reference material open in a browser window and drew a "wire diagram" (circles with dots connecting them) to figure out the general layout of the art, I intentionally made sure to differ the wire diagram to the original. I then drew a rough outline, only looking at the reference material when needed. I then closed the reference and drew the line art, trying not to rely on the reference material (although I did have to look once or twice to figure things out).
