Get a new one and system transfer get the New 3Ds or New 2Ds and then you can use Amiibos

I treid to fix it with a spare case but sadly doesn't work completely. The dis- and reassembling went alright but the function that keeps the screen in a certain position doesn't work anymore so all I could do with mine was keeping it as a display memorial of sorts as playing on it simply isn't comfortable any longer. I still got my old original 3DS that works fine still so I transfered data back to it.

It's a stupid faulty design with the XL models of the 3DS which already was a problem back with the DS and DS lite. I absolutely hate it. I'd say to completely avoid it, a 2DS is probably better as a choice as it has no hinges. Cannot say if a new 3DS XL works better than the old 3DS XL. I simply know my original 3DS was used by far longer than the XL version and no problems at all. It even survived more intense games like Kid Icarus Uprising and so on.
