As a deliverperson myself, folks aren't upset if you're a little over a half-hour past the time they called. It helps if you call them first if you get lost. Whether or not they tip usually isn't decided in that case.
I've never eaten a customer's food so I don't know how bad your ass will get kicked for that. That's gotta be a write-up, at least.
