The Jaeger state organization was founded 150 years ago to counteract the plague of werewolves hiding in disguise. Over the years their rights extended abroad to maintain order in neighboring countries, which had a bad effect on public opinion and so formed a certain reputation. Jaeger's duties include patrol, scouting, persecution and apprehending of werewolves, dead or alive. The Jaeger organization cooperates with a local orphanage and annualy selects its cadets amongst the gifted children, the main criteria being a degree of their special "sense", allowing them to spot and hunt down magic creatures and werewolves.
Rowan came a long way from her start to the high level position in the capital's department, but had developed some issues along the way, including chronic bronchitis from countless forest and mountain trips. She's very meticulous and loves paperwork, which doesn't make her exactly popular among subordinates. Recently she concluded a sham marriage with Captain Ferkes in order to obtain an apartment from her sick father, avoiding to deal with her relatives, always too busy scheming over family property. She also has an older brother and a half-sister, director of an orphanage which provides recruits (Arven and Rachel being one of them)
