And yet somehow more kids pop up having these family curses. So maybe those eldritch abominations are lovable after all!

Possibly - the original stories leave it open if being a ghoul is a trait that can be passed on to one´s offspring, but personally, I like to think it is.
Who knows, there may be a distant relation to a certain controversial painter who disappeared under mysterious circumstances...
