It may be hereditary as his mother wasn't quite the picture of mental health. It might also be a result of some *cough* things she did that may or may not have scarred him for life. There were also some bad events involving humans that he may have never forgiven. A lot of it will be touched on later~
I like to compare him with Ailyx because Ailyx is a very contrasting character: He's Lawful Neutral. He'd prefer to stay out of the sight of "little people" because they have guns and don't take kindly to Roc-sized birds devouring them. If you encounter him, and don't attempt to steal his treasure, you'll likely never know he's there. If you do invade his roost and attempt to take what he is guarding... heaven help you.
