since I like to push my weak points, I started working at more cartoon-style art when I was younger -- I wasn't always able to draw -this- realistically. as a result, my cartoon attempts are always more realistic than cartoony, and usually sub-par :
but they're vastly improved from the stuff I used to do :D

I start drawing, and then pretty soon the person's got a story and they're brooding or happy or gonna kick someone. then I forget they exist until I see them again and I'm all "hey don't you have like, a brother or something?"
they get all mad at me after that : I guess it was their boyfriend, or something
