Three foot three, full of callous spunk and confidence, Chief Engineer Josephine Burnham keeps the Steadfast flying when things get nasty. Coming along with her brother Joseph, she never knew Sal's old ship past an interview with its captain. The Steadfast however, with all the tiny enhancements she's made to it, is as much her pride and joy as it is her captain's.

After spending twenty-one years aboard The Mitchell, her ship of birth, raising and adult employment, the comparatively pristine confines of The Steadfast and its wildly varied crew are a welcome change of pace to her.

Josephine often spends time with Keyana, perhaps too fearless in her willingness to take part in the first mate's planetside shenanigans- much to the dismay and worry of her man aboard the ship, Reginald Tilgoe.
