Salt and Stone Part 1 (An RP Session)
A few days after their hasty retreat from the pocket dimension, Eala, Medoro, Henry, and Candle try to pick up where they left off.
Eala belongs to himself. Henry, Candle, Medoro, Peaseblossom, Moth, Cathal, Dubhgall, Lord Umund, Leonora, Charlotte, Mangiafuoco, Azura, and their stories belong to me.

Intriguing, though I'm surprised you included such a huge spoiler about Moth's power in here. I thought you would've waited till the reveal came in the comics. Looking forward to the big premier, though. And it seems that the neutral races may need to get involved, after all. If this is going where I think it is, then even the Unicorns and Dragons will need to put aside differences to preserve the balance and creation itself.
I figure since I've talked about it in so many mini-RP's that particular cat is out of the bag. I'm still sitting on some much bigger reveals, though. ^w^
There is much at stake. It may well become a matter that the noble creatures, despite their infighting and pride, cannot ignore.

I never said they were enemies, only that they might have differences. Unicorns, as you know, preserve balance and life. Dragons vary in their motives and desires, depending on the nature of their species, upbringing, experiences, and magical alignment. For example, sometimes the most evil dragon can be the purest white or shiny gold, while the black dragons take a bad rap for their overall appearance and the elements associated with their magic. Death, decay, etc. Both have their roles to play in helping to maintain the flow of magic in the realms. In some cultures, dragons are a major source of magic and life for the world. And as you are doubtless aware, it is also the same for a Unicorn in others.
Though, if I may point out, according to my understanding, salt isn't meant to act as a barrier to all creatures of magic, but rather to those who have a darker alignment and wish ill. Salt itself can't always prevent a scrying from succeeding, nor can it hold back those fae that are aligned with good and the lighter aspects of magic. It can help to hold back lesser demons and malevolent spirits, however, among other lesser dark entities.

Anybody with any degree of common sense should be wary of dragons, especially if they're now a herbivore.
Magic and it's effects vary from culture to culture, but one necessity they have in common is the faith that something will work. I imagine the same is probably true of the salt... though bear in mind, it wasn't altruistic motives or spells that made any of us three what we are.

Wow! That was incredible! To hear on how Moth gained her powers was interesting and makes her more of a threat! Well done, you two! Can't wait to hear more!
Enedia: Moth murdered the Queen Titania in cold blood? Wow. I believe that I have more respect for that ladybug. Shame how she hasn't used it to her full potential yet. Her and I would get along much better than before.

Acrathia: *In a tone of mock irritation* Indeeed unicorn! Pay attention to things you are suited for like frolicking and maidens, and leave politics to the big girls! * give a playful wink to Eala* Though I do hate to admit it the horny horse has a point, Lady Moth is not always the most forgiving of fae, if you do approach her, it should be with great caution.
Acrathia: *Lifts a staff that appeared out of no where, and it's the butt of it to the ground resulting in a loud boom* Lady Edeina! Lord Eala! It is unseemly for magical beings such as ourselves to be fighting over such trivialities. * Turns her attention to Edeina* This is why you don't discuss your plans for world domination with people. They get all huffy, and next thing you know there are threats of dismembermentand you end up being late for tea. It is an unpleasant mess. *Looks to Eala* You dearest have enough on you plate trying to reign in Lady Azura without worrying about vague far off plans of megalomania.
Acrathia: *rubs her eyes in frustration* You are missing the point love. If you chase two rabbits you will lose them both. You are under the service of Lady Azura, and are now covertly working against her. Focus on that and allow some 'other' meddlesome dogooder worry about Lady Edeina and her desire for world domination.
And you are missing mine. Threaten the balance, especially the carefully manipulated status quo that I need to maintain in order to resolve the present danger, and I am compelled to respond. My human nature has no say or influence in the matter, and I *know* it will not end well. I implore you please to not make it happen.
Acrathia: *Shakes her head and mutters under her breath 'by the gods you're thick'* Do not proceed to lecture me about balance boy! The world has been out of balance for centuries, and you are just upset that it may become out of balance in another way! But please! don't let me stop you from arguing with the emotionally unstable witch! I hope that you can take whatever she throws at you, because if your attempt to stop Azura becomes compromised she could become just as big a threat as Moth, Edeina, or myself!
Acrathia: *looks at him incredulously and then starts laughing* Are you...are you trying to put a gaes on me?! *Hysterical Laughter stops laughing and looks concerned* I am beginning to have serious doubts about your ability to reign Azura in. But if it puts your mind at ease love go ahead! * says in a mock overly dramatic tone* Detour me from my course of action! Honestly love the biggest thing you have to worry from me is that I won't stand in Edeina's way. I have no desire to rule over anyone or anything. If I had wanted that I would have slain that impudent upstart Mab taken over the idiotic Unseelie court and actually lead an actually successful campaign against the Seelie court. Your looking in all the wrong places for your true enemies love!
Enedia: All that you endeavour to encourage will come to dust and despair? You have not been through what we have. Your endeavours will mean nothing in the end. They will be forgotten about in the years to come, no matter how much you encourage it. They will forget and return to the despair that they bring upon themselves. I have a solution to my own problem that could be beneficial to all, and it does require the human race to be altered for the better. They will be carefree under my rule, no worries about any of their current problems and issues, they will all be fine. That doesn’t mean that the human race will not be punished for what they have done to us. After all of their destruction, countless murders of the magic kind, and abuse that we have suffered throughout time, they deserve to be altered into the animals that they are. You should consider yourself to be very lucky that your form is of a unicorn and not that of a common animal, or else you wouldn’t be able to fight the possibility of your humanity being removed, making you just one of many humans that will end up the same.
Surely you would understand why I want the human race to be my pets now, unicorn. After what they have done to me and my family, you would surely understand why they should become the animals that they are.

Enedia: Was it right for them to burn down the village that I lived in, murdering the people that I knew, turning my father into a slave and forcing the remaining people to flee and hide? No. They don't deserve the life that they live. There is only one way of stopping the human race from further destruction and that is to alter their form into those of carefree animals, altering their minds as they live in the only harmony that I know would work. You are very lucky that you are a unicorn. If you were in the form of a common animal, I would have altered your views on the matter.
Enedia: Many, many centuries ago, but I know that you will say "But they've changed, they are different now" and I know that they haven't! Every time I have roamed this Earth, I have abused, harrassed and almost been burned at the stake. They are no different from the barbarians that they were when they first visited the village where I lived.
Nothing so naive. But while you have my sympathies, this is not how justice works. The world *has* changed; the scale of your retribution would be completely out of proportion now to the original acts against you, and every bit as unbalancing as that which you have witnessed over time.
Enedia: Simple, daring. I want to remove the humanity of all humans, making them care free and obedient to my every demand. Once the whole of humanity is changed, they simply become my servants and I decide if they are good enough to have some form of a human body. Soon, I'll give some of the humans to those who want servants. They will behave better than what they have for many, many centuries.
But don't you see? The human world is in just as precarious a balance as that which I'm trying to preserve here, which you don't seem to care about dragging me away from. Speaking as a human, they *will* fight back to preserve what they see as their 'freedoms', incinerating each other and everything that has ever been touched by their influence, including us. What makes you think you can possibly achieve your ambition without unleashing an apocalypse of your own making?
Enedia: Because with the combined skill of Acrathia and Moth, we can achieve anything that we please. Moth will find the love of her life, I will alter humanity, and Acrathia will walk down on that planet without any fear of magic fearers. Soon, you will join those humans and you'll become a loyal pet for us. That unicorn body won't last as long as you think.
*shakes head* Even you vastly underestimate the self-destructive potential of humankind. The turning point may already have been reached. Can you alter the reality of seven billion humans, all in one fell swoop? As long as there is enough time for a single pocket of resistance to press a button, you will gain nothing, assuming you survive the resultant worldwide devastation. And if you could combine to possess a fraction of the necessary power - which would be just as catastrophic - you would have done so long before the human race became so widespread. Leaving all morality aside, your plan stands no chance of success.
Enedia: You do realise that Moth has the soul of the Fae Queen. I have negotiated a deal with her. Since I deal in the magic of souls, I will be able to get her to harness the power of the Queen's magic. One fell swoop may not be possible, but my plan will be successful. *thinks* I do believe that I can make you agree with this idea. *her hands light up* All I have to do is remove the horn.
That would not affect the outcome, nor would it change my opinion. I speak not from the vantage of the infinite possibilities of magic, but the inevitability as dictated by pure mathematics and science. Titania possessed the necessary wisdom of a queen, that so much energy concentrated into one source cannot be used without inviting self-immolation - were it not so, she herself could have reclaimed the world for her own kind. Humanity itself has come perilously close to learning this lesson several times in the ultimate fashion, being unbound by the rules which govern us. But I fear I sense no such wisdom in yourself. You are making the same mistake as the corruption which infests Azura; the desire for more power than any vessel than contain. I see now that I need do nothing; you will annihilate your own selves if you persist in this endeavour. I can only pray that the rules are enough to contain the fallout within the vicinity of those responsible. And now I have said my piece; there is nothing more than I can reason with you, so I shall take my leave.
Author's note: yes, unicorns are that dismissive and disdainful, and disinclined to hang around and prolong a situation they realise to be self-defeating. If not for the human side trying to make people see reason as a courtesy, he'd have swanned off long ago like all the others. It doesn't mean the inner human doesn't find that attitude equally infuriating either.
Acrathia: *A dark smile crosses her face* Finally taking my advice love? And here I thought your Unicorn sensibilities would not allow leave the situation to another. But that is a discussion for another day as I can tell by your tone that you are done with my antics. On one final note dearest, we need not be antagonistic toward each other. You and I both want Azura cleansed of her magical sickness, you don't want Edeina to make all of mankind into beasts, and I...am still up in the air about it. If you ever want to strategize, or if you need some some... Not quite orthodox advice just give me a call *vanishes into black and indigo mist*
*shrugs withers*
Well, nobody can say I didn't try. But once it became apparent that ambition far outweighed rational sense, the chain of events was out of my hooves. Besides... I have one potential disaster to prevent already, that would be instigated by the same power-blinded lack of foresight and judgement.
*trots off*

We've come to something of an 'understanding', the two aspects of my being, and recognise that each needs the other to complete a more important common goal which neither could do alone. Rather than merge into a hybrid mind the two sides keep as separate as possible while retaining the ability to draw upon the skills and knowledge of the other; pragmatism rather than dominance. It seems to work, but it has the effect that I don't feel quite 'whole', like the body I'm wearing is a hollow shell.
