I don't think its a case of being stupid, I think its a problem of being boxed in. In Southern California, the cities' freeway system is a disaster on a normal weekday. Now, on December 22, 2012, when a panic breaks out over zombies, every freeway in So-Cal will be in grid-lock; meaning there is no escape from the zombies. Without food being trucked in, the citizens will be forced to relocate, but without the freeway system, they'll have to hike out on foot or bike which is simply fresh meat for a city of zombies. So those who live in rural areas or small towns have the highest chance of survival. Even if they don't have any food or water, they can drive or bike to the farm-lands since the ruralness of farm-lands means zombie threats will be low or at least at a manageable level where a armed squad of men can go out and clean up the infestation.
Then it is bias. Bruhaha!
No really though...most Americans wouldn't survive, but that can be said of any country. Probably more so the European countries because they are all right there next to each other. America is a larger area and more spread out.
And you might want to reword what you said unless you are including every single American. If you mean it like that, then I take offense to that. I'm hardly stupid.

I always knew you were preparing yourself for something but could not figure out what it was.

Whenever I saw this picture in your profile, I always thought it was you reading a book on ecomincs while fixing a tie. I did not realize it was a zombie guide and a machete..... Until I read the pic title.
But on the subject of the survival guide.....
Rural territory is good, but personally I would still be in the city searching for survivors and other gear I could pick up. My chances of survival would be minimal if I did go on these missions searching for others. But if I can survive 2 deployments in Iraq, then I figure I could handle World War Z....

We'll have to set up a watch. You want day or night shift? So far with us two it would be 12 hours each. With others we could bring down that number. I can set-up claymores and trip flares all around the perimeter and give to access to military bases so we can take whatever resources we need for our survival... i.e. 7 ton truck full of ammo, mre's, weapon, or other tactical vehicles such as m-rap or M-1 Abram tanks.
Yah, I gotz night shift. I love nights. The military base sounds like a good resource, but its bound to be crawling with infected personal. I'd be happy if we could get another person/fur with military or firearm experience and start up a Blackhawk. With two 7.62x51 GAU-17 gunners on each window, it would make one hell of a zombie patrol/rescue platform. "Target, 10 o'clock, 300 meters. Waste 'em" -Zzzziiiiiiiiiiippppppppp- "Tangos Down".
25 hours DAMN!! You have obviously mastered mental fatigue. A good thing. Most people get delirious by then. A Blackhawk sounds good. I am sure my friend Rick would join us and help us out. I took him to the last fur meet, we were in the same platoon. He is a good point man and scout that I trained. The only thing he has over me is his young age, but he is like my young padawan. And he took Combat Life Savers course so he can fix the injured during battle, and so can I.
You can take to the air, I will remain on the ground. All I need is a precision shot rifle with at least a 30 round mag, and I am golden. But a S.A.W. would be nice ^.^

I'm writing a story about all of us now. I started it while on post today. But before I actually post it, I want to get permission from everyone that is in it. So far, in just the prologue, you are the main character. It's about an earth run by furries, no humans. And we are being invaded by zentai aliens. So it's furries vs zentai.... You'll see it when I am done with it. But yeah, I even planned on how to get the terminator version of Whiskey Foxtrot in there too. The names and location are real, but I won't give up real addresses and such. And of course the event are made up.... and there is even going to be alittle more to the story than just that. It's going to have it's strawberries as well as it's steak for those that want it. Give me some time. It will be good though by the time I return.
Lates!

Not incredable bored. 12 hour night shift monitoring battalion movement in the Combat Operations Center. Most internet sites can't be seen but I do get FA. WOOT! But the story is going to be fun, sad, serious, and scary. It is getting really good now. I am surprised by how it is turning out. I am having fun with it. And, I am never bored.... I keep myself occupied at all times. *winks*
I honestly think people like me have a large chance of survival.
1. Parents have grown their own food for a few years, canning most of it.
2. Lots of ammunition and melee weapons.
3. I live out in the middle of fucking nowhere. There isn't a house for a mile down either side of my house.
4. The a large city is about an hour and thirty minute drive on a 65 mile an hour highway.
I think I'm good...at least for a while. There's a lot of farm land too. Lots of food and such growing around.

Manual, read it. machete, close by in closet. Sniper rifle, neighbors house. Tank? erm bull dozer will do in a pinch...
awesome book. except for a few theories i'm skeptical of, the info would be pretty useful. All set where I live - middle of nowhere on a hill. good defenses, plenty of food around. Not to mention plenty of veteran neighbors with heavy artillery.
