hi everyone guys! the most terrible time of the year is coming - it's Halloween! are your costumes ready?
little Shampi and raff love this holiday for candy, scary costumes, atmosphere and magic.
Do you know why the pumpkin is used for Jack-o'-lantern?
What is Jack-o'-lantern? A pumpkin in which a burning candle is placed is cut out by all who responsibly prepare for the holiday. This is not just an interesting piece of furniture that creates the ominous atmosphere necessary for the holiday. It is believed that Jack-o'-lantern drives away all evil spirits. The tradition to cut a kind of flashlight went from the Celtic custom. The Celts believed that such lanterns help the souls of dead people find a way to purgatory.
There is a legend that tells about the dispute between the greedy Jack and the Devil. A man invited the devil to the bar to drink. But at the end of the evening, when it came time to pay, Jack did not want to pay. With cunning, he made the demon turn into a coin in order to pay for the drink.
When the Devil turned into a coin, Jack put it in the breast pocket where the silver cross lay. So he trapped the devil into a trap from which he could not escape. After some time, Jack freed the devil. However, I set a condition for him not to disturb him for a whole year. And in the case of death - do not take his soul to hell. The devil made a deal, but soon again fell for the trick of a cunning man. Jack persuaded the demon to climb the apple tree, and while he was plucking the fruit, the man carved a cross on the tree.
The devil could not hurry to the ground, and in exchange for his freedom, he promised Jack not to disturb him for another ten years. When Jack died, God didn't let him go to heaven. The devil of his soul is also not needed. Since then, Jack has been walking on the ground and lighting his way with a coal that he laid in a carved pumpkin.
Happy Halloween!!!
