This one is something else, you nailed down a feeling of isolation, reflection and hopelessness all at once. Its like one part Twilight Zone, one part 2001: A Space Odyssey and one part Battlestar Galactica.

So many people talk about how great the idea of going to space and colonizing other planets is. Personally, I don't think our species has the responsibly for such things and would be prone to repeat our mistakes. Especially bad if we didn't have a planet to go back to, which could very well be the case in the nest twelve years...

Very interesting read, but has a very real and gritty quality. The underlying subtext is strong, and makes me contemplate if we will ever try the same thing one of these days.
