Something you should give a try is Ink Wash painting. I recommend grabbing some Dr. PH Martin's Bombay india inks and some inexpensive(but somewhat decent) watercolor brushes and try it out. It's the same as watercoor, but when you get it right it's simply amazing.
I paint in ink all the time, I just don't usually do themes in that media that make much sense here.
