A new school year dawns on the Pokémon Combat Academy. This school is home to many of students that wish to hone their skills and become great scholars in all of their professions. Many have come to this prestigious school to partake in the many events that occur here, while others just want the pleasure of battling other ‘mon to see how they “measure up” with the other students.

Such thoughts and numerous more to dwell in the head of new student Leo Leonne as he and his sister Kitty headed there for the first time. Both siblings had heard about the school’s reputation with how many bright and strong students attended the Academy every year. This year, one of those students included Leo’s best friend and rival, Apollo Raiga. Leo was itching to get a chance to do battle with the Electivire once again after his previous defeat.

However, that thought was quickly erased from his head as Kitty shook him out of his sleep. “Wake up, sleepyhead! We’re here. Take a look at it!”

Leo turned to the window of the car to finally see the school. She was right, Leo thought. It IS big. The two ‘mon were in amazement at the many facilities that made up the Academy. As they drove up to the door, Kitty hummed a song while thinking of how much fun she was going to have here. Leo just went back to thinking about meeting with Apollo again.

“Oh, I can’t wait to make so many new friends here.” The Meowth gleefully purred while bouncing in her seat.

“Please. You’re just excited because you know Sabre is gonna be here.” Leo rolled his eyes at her obvious thought. Kitty punched Leo in the shoulder. “You meanie! You know that’s not true! I mean it is great that Sabre is here. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to let him get in my way of being a top actress.” She pouted as she turned to look back at the school.

Once they got to the front gates, Leo and Kitty stepped out of the car and looked around as there were other students making their way into the academy. Leo looked around and scouted out a few of the students that he’s heard about from previous students. One of the students he spotted was someone that looked like they knew what was going on.

”Excuse me, but we're looking for someone to help show us around?” Leo asked. The mentioned ‘mon heard his name, and raised his head from his clipboard to see Leo standing next to him, smiling.

“Howdy. Should be able to help, who might you be?”

“My name’s Leo Leonne. Over there’s my baby sister, Kitty.” Leo pointed to the Meowth in question, who was still gazing at the beauty of the school. Once she heard her name, she walked over to her brother for more introductions.

“Nice to meet you two. Name's Vincent Tellemapolou, but everybody here just calls me Vincent or Vince. Since you guys are new here, I could show you 'round before the new principal’s big speech starts off the year?”

Kitty nodded. “Yeah, we could go with that. It’ll be nice to see this place close up, right Leo?” Leo nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I wanna see if there’re any other familiar faces here.”

Vince chuckled. “Then we'd better get goin' if we want to make it back in time," He started the tour from the main office and engaged them in some chit chat as he did.

"So what do you guys wanna get out of being here? That’ll give me some ideas of what specifically to show ya.”

“My brother and I are going to become one of the greatest tag team battlers that ever stepped foot in here.” Kitty said as she grabbed onto Leo’s arm. “But I want to be an actress as well, just like our mother!” she giggled at the thought of it. “Leo just wants to dig up dirt for the rest of his life.” Leo grunted at Kitty. “Not true! Don’t pay any attention to her, Vince.” He said as he gave her a look that made her hair stand on end. “What I really want do is work under Archaeology, just like my dad. When I get outta here, I’m going to maybe work at the Pewter City Museum.” Leo smiled, looking down at his Aerodactyl fang fossil necklace. “That doesn’t mean I don’t want to throw down while I’m here.” He said as he punched the air as they walked.

Vince chuckled “Those are some pretty big goals, I know a few folks around here with similar ones. I'm working around here as a Student Coach for some of the freshman myself."

“That’s cool, working with the students. Sounds like the freshmen are going to have a good teacher.” Kitty said, and then her ears perked up. “Oh, that reminds me! I over heard some of the freshmen talking about a drama club earlier. Do you know anything about that, Mr. Telma…Telmar…?”

Vince laughed again. “Just ‘Coach’ or Vince is fine, Kitty. Well, let’s start over here with the auditorium, and we may pass by some of the members later.” Vince said as he continued to lead the duo around the campus and explained most of the history that has happened during the last few years here, which included some of the most infamous matches that happened in the school’s arenas, to the more practical things like where most of the classes would be held. Leo and Kitty would have followed most of the words Vince said, though bits of the stuff were being blocked by them looking around at other stuff. By the time Vince finished the tour, they were back at the gates of the school. By that time, some more of the students were coming into the school. It was there when Kitty noticed a familiar Mightyena among them.

“Wulfie!” she yelled as she rushed over to Sabre Wulfe, the Mightyena who turned around just in time to catch Kitty as she jumped onto his chest to give him a big hug. Sabre was able to smile at seeing Kitty, though still out of breath from her pouncing on him.

“It- *cough* It’s nice to see you too, Kitty. Now, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to still be breathing long enough to get through at least ONE year of school.”

“Oops! Sorry, Sabre.” Kitty said as she stood up and helped Sabre dust himself off. Sabre checked himself over once, and then looked in the direction of Leo and Vince, who both chuckled at the site of the two.

Sabre walked over to Leo. “And it’s nice to see you again as well, Leo.” Leo nodded as they both shook hands. Leo then noticed there was someone missing from this picture. “Hey, Sabre, is Blaze here yet?”

Sabre sighed. “If you mean Mr. Dark-as-a-Duskull, he’s over there.” He pointed to his half-brother, Blaze Barthez, sitting at the gates of the school with both his and Sabre’s bags. “We decided to wait here in case you guys didn’t show up yet.” It was then that Sabre finally noticed Vince standing there. “Oh, my apologies. Where are my manners? My name is Sabre Wulfe. I’m Kitty’s boyfriend, as well as a senior here at school. It’s nice to meet you, Mr.…”

“Vincent Tellemapolou or Vince. Nice to meet you too, Sabre.” The Poli said as he shook Sabre’s hand.

“Ah, thank you, Mr. Tellemapolou.” Sabre said, getting a gasp from Kitty, amazed that he got Vince’s name right the first time. “I don’t think you’ll be seeing Blaze any time other then when our team has any matches. He likes to keep to himself at most times.” Sabre said, pointing to Blaze, who was just waking up from his nap. He noticed everybody else talking to Vince, then stood up and walked over to them. He opened his mouth as if he were going to talk, but then closed it again and decided to just shake Vince’s hand. He then went back to his bags and drifted off again.

“Well, he’s cheery as usual.” Leo said, crossing his arms at the weird welcome. “Oh, well. The good news is all of Team DarkFire is officially accounted for!”

“Oh, so you all are part of a team? I thought you two wanted to be a tag team?” Vince said to Leo, a confused look across his face.

“Oh we do. And we will. However, we still want to be able to fight in the 4v4 matches.” Leo said.

“And that’s where Wulfie and Blaze come in. They offered us to be a part of their team, so here we are!” Kitty said as she jumped on Sabre’s and wrapped her legs around his waist.

“Kitty! I thought we agreed you wouldn’t call me that anymore.” Sabre turned to Kitty and gave her a quick kiss, and then he looked at his watch. “Oh, never mind. I’ll deal with it later. Right now, we’ve got a speech to hear from our new principal. Care to join us, Vincent?” Sabre said.

"Thanks for the offer but I've got some people to go meet up with," He smiled amiably as he looked between them, "We'd all better get going though if we wanna get there in time."

With that, Team DarkFire said their farewells to Vince and headed for the main gate for the new principal’s big speech.
