Residing in swamps and caverns where they can use their acid breath to pickle their victims, black dragons are formidable foes at best and death on leather wings at worst. Many an unwary traveler has had their last sight be the shadow of this winged beast block out the stars in the night sky as it closed in for the kill.
Unlike most of the minis I've painted this one has had the base left blank since I wasn't sure what to do with it. Perhaps some day I'll revisit it when i have some ideas but for now I'd like to imagine that it's perched on a stone coming out of a feted swamp

That's not a black dragon! D&D blacks have their horns going forward...but not the 1st edition ones.
My main OC is female black dragon and I am super proud of my unique looking horn.
I love how this one's wings look like. Pale but still pretty and most likely powerful enough to make the Wing Buffet work flawlessly.

I love that the dragon designs of the 2nd edition and onward has unique horn style for each color/metal version. But what if the dragon changes the color of it's scales? What if a red dragon decides to have a tar bath and pose as a black?
Well most people would have a hard time to look on the horns of a rampaging dragon to identify it's alignment and type, BUT...
...the Black Dragon has the only start at the back and going forward horn type! It's super easy to recognize, even if the body is of different color! Yeah, the style of Black's horns are pretty strange, yet awesome, since it didn't hinder them in anything at all! I choose my OC purely based on that at first...
...It took me years to learn that the 1st edition black dragons had their horns backwards...I was not amused!
