The fine art of summoning and conjuration often requires the use of summoning circles such as these. Sometimes because our world is poison to beings of other planes, other times since not all beings take kindly to being forcefully removed from their homes.
I love how this set of minis was done in three parts so that they can be layered up to look like altars, circles, standing stones and the like and range from a Celtic to a dark ritual circle depending on what you have displayed up front.

it was a short story set before Dragons of Autumn Twilight that was published in an anthology book, I just can't remember the name of it right now but it also had a poem in it called Riverwind and the Crystal Staff and there was also the story in it of Raistlin's test at the Tower of High Sorcery. It's a good read if you can ever get your hands on it.
I saw the animated version of Dragons of Autumn Twilight. It was...passable, yet entertaining.
The one story I am desperately hunting for is the last 4 novels in the The Death Gate Cycle novels written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I loved the concept of two OP races hiding from each other, so they could both end any conflict of the lesser races by their OP magic, but both were afraid of each other and the conflict they could start anew, if they would rediscover each other's existence. I love it. That's how you write OP characters: They limit themselves, in order not to endanger themselves, thus OP characters are forced to act in a down-powered manner.
I also hunt for Ravenloft novels. I, Sthrad is so well written, and a million times better vampire love story, then Twilight!

yeah sadly their paperback publishing got the axe. Probably because it was flooded with a lot of of really sub par literature that wasn't selling well and coming back to the warehouses if we're going to be honest. It's that shipping and storage of unsold material that was partially to blame for the bankruptcy of TSR.
