Well, watercolors definitely take their time to dry and when I start doing one thing I don't always stick with it until it's done in one shot. With watercolors I work on different aspects of the image while the others are drying. So one could say that the background took me as long as it took me to do the entire painting, because it was the last thing I worked on and finalized, but if I were not to take in consideration those "drying breaks" ... 10 minutes I guess?
It's literally just a huge area covered in orange, a lot of white ink on top, contouring the white ink with a golden pen and a few stripes of washi tape.
